The course contains six video lessons and follows the structure of a marketing strategy, walking you through each stage of the process and supporting you to apply the techniques in a way that works for you. By the end, you will have produced your own marketing strategy - set objectives, identified target audiences who are likely to be interested in reading your work, planned how you'll reach them and what you'll say to make them sit up and take notice.

An online course for you to work through at your own pace, all about learning how to find readers who will love your work.


Whether you're an established author looking to give your marketing a boost, you're planning the launch of your debut book or you’re a novice just starting to think about publishing a short story on your blog, this course will provide you with a toolkit of essential marketing knowledge to start building connections with readers and potential readers.


This is all about taking good, strategic marketing principles and applying them in a way that works for creative people - demystifying the language and the processes, and exploring how to bring your creativity and passions into the way you promote yourself. This course also covers practical ideas for content that can help you build a platform and invite readers into the world of your writing.


This course usually takes between 10 and 15 hours to complete, depending on how long you spend on the exercises and putting together your marketing strategy.


You will have access to the content of the course for six months and can watch the video tutorials as many times as you like during this time.




Your trainer

Anna Caig works with The Society of Authors, Jericho Writers, The Literary Consultancy, Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre and The Romantic Novelists' Association, as well as one-to-one with many writers.


She has worked in communications for 18 years, specialising in media relations and strategic marketing campaigns. The former Head of Communications at Sheffield City Council and tutor on The University of Sheffield MA Journalism course, Anna began her training business to support writers to build their brand and reach more readers. She now works with traditionally, indie and self-published writers, as well as helping creatives in any discipline find a wider audience.


Anna also writes historical crime fiction and her debut novel was shortlisted for the CWA Debut Dagger prize. She reviews books for The Sheffield Telegraph and on her blog.
